Methods of Research

This distance learning environment provides an introduction to the principles and methods of empirical research. These principles and related skills are explored through an apprenticeship in which learners perform each stage in planning research: problem definition and refinement, review of the literature, conceptual framework, and method.

The objective for each learner is a project which includes producing a research proposal, conducting a field study, and presenting the results. Evaluation of acquired understanding is based on assessment of individual progress and achievement in each of these areas.
